Clonazolam is a type of benzodiazepine. It is chemically related to the prescription drug clonazepam, but is much more potent and has a longer half-life, meaning it can remain active in the body for an extended period of time.
Clonazolam is believed to work by enhancing the activity of a neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which can reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and induce sleep. It may also have muscle relaxant properties.
